Once wizard has run I can't view my site
This is the third time this has happened to me now over the course of two or three years since I bought security assist. Basically, I run the wizard to produce the login pages etc and then without even applying any of the user level access to any of the site, my browser can no longer display the site saying I don't have permission or access.
As far as I am concerned the pages like the home page are unaffected by security assist, and they should be because I need people to view this page in order to log in. No code has been added as far as I am aware to any of the pre-existing pages, so why do I loose the ability to test my site in a browser?
Luckily, from past experience, I backed my site up before running the wizard, so I thought I would copy the back up back on to my PC... problem still occurs... still can't test the site! I do this many times, but to no avail.
In the end, I create a new directory with a different name for my backed up site and copy the files to there. Bingo, it worked straight away. So, what's going on? This happened to me last time where I had to create a new directory with a different name before the site would test again, so what is happening to the permissions of the directory of my site on my PC when I run security assist.
I've been told before on here that it doesn't do anything to my PC, only to the webpages, but that's not right; something is happening that shouldn't be but I don't know what?
I'm not about to repeat the process to replicate the problem as it takes way too long to correct, so I would like some avice on how to prevent this from happening in the future as I am effectively frightened of using this piece of software that I paid good money for.
Your help is going to be very much appreciated here as I have some really big projects coming up that need this kind of funtionality, but, I am too concerned to even consider using it at the moment!
Thanks.
