Well, I did it differently, but I got it!
I freely admit I am still a nimrod on CSS- having said that. . .
I wasn't quite sure how to add it there, or if I should have added it in the common.css which is, well, common to the light and dark themes. Also, the (what I guess are) naming conventions scared me away to look elsewhere. So I did, and. . .
I found out that the link colors were being defined all the way up in the screen.css from having used CSS Sculptor, and so I changed it there. It was something I hadn't tweaked yet, and the colors I chose for links work site-wide as well. So that's another one crossed off the list.
