My answer to your questions
Hello Mr Mittman
I didn't alter the character encoding on the pages itself. The products stored in the db are those entered through POWERSTORE using accented French characters (e.g. société entered in the product name field of POWERSTORE is stored in the db as société.
Altering the collation of the db-field from latin1_swedish_ci to latin1_general_ci permits to correct the é directly in the field of the db (outside POWERSTORE) and is then stored as "société" in the productName field of the db.
Going back to POWERSTORE and using products_detail page, POWERSTORE displays the "é" as white ?-marks on blue squares.
It seems that there is a problem of language between POWERSTORE (aiming US users primarely) and european users.
On the other hand I noticed today another issue in eCart. Altering the numbers (using the latest eCart extension from WA in Dreamweaver) to display as 10.000,00 instead of the US display (10,000.00) does not work (also after having chosen FRENCH as the language).
I'm desperate. Please help me.
Best regards
Dan
