make sure the two site are in separate locations, for example:|
Main Store:
Local Files:
c:\websites\storeSite
PowerStore:
Local Files:
c:\websites\powerstore
Then "put them together" when they uploaded to the remote host. You can controll where Dreamweaver uploads site files with the host directory setting on the Remote Info tab of the site definition.
Main Store:
hosst directory:
httpdocs/
Power Store:
host directory:
httpdocs/store
I wasn't sure if you were going to be able to get back to me today, so I did a full backup of the site, crossed my fingers (making it harder to type) and moved the templates folder into the site root folder (one up from the powerstore folder) and dreamweaver asked if I wanted to upate all pages and links. I clicked update, uploaded the site, and it worked the way you said it should have in the beginning. So this one seems to be solved. Now that I do have that template folder in the root folder, I should be able to make future template changes with the same result. I think it will work. So far so good.
I imagine there may be other files that I am going to run into this with, and since I didn't know when I first set up powerstore that we needed to run from two separate root folders, I have come far enough along I don't know if it is better to keep it the way I have it, or if there are going to be other files that need to be root files that are going to cause more problems down the road and so I should bite the bullet and start all over again now?
