directory (and subdirectory).
I think it best that I only use the one directory.
It seems to be creating numerous subdirectories within that directory, My best guess is that it is currently creating subdirectories within the above directory, so best to stick to that as a basis for operations.
It seems, currently, to be creating a new subdirectory for every user.
There are thus three different subdirectories, it seems, as:
user_4, user_5, user_6
But where those indices are coming from I do not know. Might it be from the SecurityAssistID or some other session variable?
Since I will have to write php scripts to extract thumbnails at some point, then my primitive coding skills suggest it will be easier (for me) if all future images are placed in the above single directory.
I can then impose a naming convention upon my Presenters to keep track of whose is whose. It won't hurt them to all share the same directory. But if the logic does indeed follow say the SecurityAssistID, then I probably wouldn't have a problem devising scripts, and a private subdirectory for each is fine. But if I don't know the logic, then I can't devise scripts, and with 40 different Presenters, that becomes an issue.
(The images placed by the previous file manager are wherever they are, and are being correctly referenced. Since that prior one has been abandones, then I do not need their explicit locations. Those were only trials).
ADDED WRINKLE
I do not (at this point) see the Festival attendees uploading anything. But since there might be hundreds of those, it is surely not feasible for all f them to have a different subdirectory for keeping track is challenging unless the file manager programme is pursuing some ruthless logic, about which I then need to be informed.
If this latter case of attendee images WERE to arise, I would certainly want a second directory exclusively for them. Then any mischief any of them caused would not affect the Presenters. (I don't see the Presenters causing mischief).
I could possibly establish a forum for the attendees? And then let the forum software handle those issues, which they are all designed to do.
BOTTOM LINE
If I know the logic behind those file manager user_x appendices, then I can handle what is happening. Certainly for the Presenters, and possible also for the attendees, if that arises. If there is no discernible lobic, then please let all the Presenters be in the above presenters/images directory.
I will then try to avoid having attendees uploading any images. But again, if I do, then I would want the file manager in those pages to use a completely separate directory that I would select in the future. And I will solve the problem of a common or separate subdirectories problem at that time, but hopefully there will be some determinable logic; or else I will use some forum software.
So presently please presenters/images as the main directory.
And if the logic is simple then the subdirectory creation per different users is fine. It is convenient and nicely private.
If there is no logic, all Presenters please in the one given directory. If there is again a simple logic, separate is fine (and probably better).
I hope I have been clear enough. I do not want to trouble you in this in the future. (Attendees is the only problem I can forsee)
