Keep appending .png

Image uploader keeps appending .png each time an upload happens

I want to allow the user to update his profile photo and company logo. The newly uploaded files will be named after the existing files. For example, existing file = "Tommy201.png". The new updated file should also be saved in with the same name so that no matter how many times the user change the photo or logo, there is only one image of the same name in the folder. This is to save storage space.

Problem: Based on the settings in the attached screenshots, the images can be successfully uploaded but the uploader keeps appending the file extension with every update.

How do I prevent this from happening? What should the settings be? I don't want the filename to get longer with every new image upload.
