Marking As "Tax Exempt"?

Marking As "Tax Exempt"?

Hello,

I need to mark some of my gateway provider transactions (but ALL the transaction emerging from an eCart Object I have created specifiically for donations) as Tax Exempt. Simply marking items with a tax of zero is insufficient. Exempt is required.

I recently interacted with Authorize.net. My conversation with them pasted underneath.

I have used the search string "Tax Exempt" to search for WebAssist documents on this topic, and found nothing.

How do I use an eCart object to mark transactions as Tax Exempt so Authorize.net can put that on the official receipts they send out?

Additionally ... could you please tell me which lines in which file I would need to add in the PHP coding, because I have made quite a few styling and other amendments to some of my pages, and I do not want to have to start all over again, (i.e. if this is some setting I need to amend in the eCart object.

I am on the latest version of eCart 6.

Thank you,
KB

Authorize.net Chat Transcript follows:

11:45:55 UTC Jordan : To start, are all of your transactions donations?
11:46:31 UTC KB: No. Only some (my addendum: but once again, all the transactions in the eCart object that I use for Donations)
11:47:36 UTC Jordan : Is your website set up through a major website provider suck as WooCommerce or was it custom built?
11:47:54 UTC KB : Custom
11:48:54 UTC KB : They all have the Name ”KB Donation”
11:49:31 UTC Jordan : Regarding the option for marking transactions as taxable or not then, your web developer would need to add that option to be selected for "tax exempt" on transactions processed as donations.
11:51:02 UTC Jordan : Alternatively if your web developer is using the Authorize.Net provided payment form in your website you would need to make the following change:
-Click on the Account tab
-Click on the Payment Form link
-Click on the Form fields link
-Check the boxes in the View and Edit columns for "Tax Exempt"
-Click the Save button at the bottom of the page to save your changes
