Session Variable HREF Prefix

When I echo a URL that was from the database that contains a domain that of which is not executing the php script, in the href link it prefixes the url with the current hostname.

The href value ends up looking like https://somesite.comhttps://subdomain.somesite.com/thelinktopage

I echo out the value of the URL before and after the echo of the HREF link, and they both show https://subdomain.somesite.com/thelinktopage

Whats even stranger is if i try to html_entity_decode the url to, the prefix to the URL in the href references the path all the way down the includes path of the email template folder in webassist.

I sure Im doing something wrong. This seems like a simple issue, its just that when I echo a value and it shows to be what it should be and the only value of the generated href in the email template is that value, for it to append thehostname makes me think this a php.ini setting, I dont know where something is telling this script prefix this href with the currunt host.
