How many orders can be placed at the same time using ecart?

I have a client that believes she will be going on Oprah. So - she says that in the past many of the people that get thier product on Oprah have issues when all the users come to the site to order the product.

So - my question is a general one to anyone that might have an idea of a range.

How many orders can be placed at one time using ecart?
assuming - shared server environment, mysql database, and using auth.net as processor.

would the limitation be....
1. the server load for the traffic
2. the number of database connections (ie saving orders to database)
3. number of connections to processor
