Multiple MySQLi Connections

I am having an issue where I need to connect to 2 different databases in a single page, the connections are set up in Dreamweaver and I can see the databases and the tables just fine when I view them using the DataBase window (see screenshot) but when I add the 2nd recordset using the extra connection the page dies with this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function getColumnVal() in /Users/***/Sites/***_new/wwwroot/_site-files/pages/product-pages/product-details-page.php on line 47

I suspect not many people try to do this so it might not have been flagged before.
