On this site http://www.vanessaconyers.com on the desktop version there is a drop down navigation under 'the collections' and 'shop online' - the top level are also clickable which then take you through to a category results

On the mobile version (< 768px) the navigation currently works the same way but the client wants to only have the top level nav point (the collections, shop online etc) to show and not the drop down elements.

The fact that by definition the sub menu is a drop down and the <ul> container is set to display:none am unsure how to stop the sub menu from being displayed at the lower breakpoints
