Record numbering quesiton

On my site that was created using Data Bridge every once in awhile there is a skipped record number in the listing. The missing number is not a concern as i am convinced it is coming from the people entering in the information somehow.

My question is this. Right now there are 1499 records. There is a missing record at 1462. It jumps from 1461 to 1463. No big.. I just changed the last record (1499) to 1462. All is well. Now ends at 1498..

The thing is if I do a complete listing (search with no parameters entered) and scroll to the last record it is like this... 1497,1498, 1462. Why does 1462 stay in the last position?
the line under the table shows the correct numbers "Records 1001 to 1498 of 1498"

More of an annoyance but would like to be able to answer their question as to why it does this.

Thanks.
