API request / response and correlation ID (debug ID) for PayPal

I know I can dump the response from PayPal on the success.php page but I was wondering if there was any creative way to do this without exposing all those details on a live shopping cart.

I'm working with PayPal support on an issue and they keep requesting that I send them the API request / response and correlation ID.

I usually would add var_dump($_SESSION); to the success page, run a test purchase and copy the output. However, since this is a live setup, I worry that someone else will checkout before I remove the var_dump($_SESSION); . This output includes a lot of information including the password for the PayPal Pro account. I was wondering if I could write to a text file or something that only I would see.

Also, how do I find the correlation ID? I read about it in the docs at PayPal but I don't know where to find it because it's not included in the response.

Thanks,
TroyD
