Call to member function Prepare() on null

I'm getting this error on a mysqli rs

Fatal error: Call to a member function Prepare() on string in /home/vinesine/public_html_dev/webassist/mysqli/queryobj.php on line 123 

I'm not sure why. The query works correctly, but when I call the page from a specific ajax function I have I get this error. The functions is to send an email. The email gets sent, but the logging is not working and I believe is what causes this error.
