Order numbers did not increase the morning after

Order numbers did not increase the morning after

Hi,

With a lot of great help (support ticket 108585) the order numbers were forwarded to the customer email, and they kept increasing with every new order.

Last night the last order number was 52. Today I placed another order, and the order number fell back to 33.

I had deleted a few rows from the order and orderdetails tables, but the order numbers did not seem to be affected yesterday.

Do I have to leave all order and orderdetails stored in the database for the order numbers to work properly? Or is there another reason for the number mix up.
