I came across the same issue. A client of mine emailed me with the following:
"recently a customer called about her frustrations with checking out her cart with the delivery/billing address information page on my site. She said she was determined to figure out why her normal address was not being accepted and her form was not accepted until she completely spelled out normally abbreviated words IE(st. street, ave. avenue, apt. apartment etc) so if this is really the issue can it be changed because I receive so many calls/emails with frustrated people and who knows what customers don't call but go somewhere else."
Tried to follow the above instructions which were posted in 2013 but to no avail. When I click on Server Behaviors I have a list which corresponds to the checkout.php page ie.
Dynamic Text Field (firstname)
Validation Show If (confirm.php)
and the list continues to cover every field of the form
When the line "Dynamic Text Field (firstname)" is selected a window appears titled Dynamic Text Field
Text field: "firstname" in form"ecart_check... is grayed out
Set value to: <?php echo(ValidatedField("confirm_273","firstname")) ?> and a lightning bolt button
Clicking on the lightning bolt, window appears for setup instructions
Not sure if the setup instructions box is what is required for the validation to accept a period, comma, or hyphen
Is there a simple way of altering the code.
You have been great bailing me out in the past with this client. Thanks in advance
