Sessions not being killed off

I've created a few sessions on a details page that I am using to populate content on a results page that is filtered based on the session info. However, when I move from one detail page to another, I am finding that the sessions are not being killed off and repopulated with the new session info leading to inaccurate content being displayed. If I refresh the page, then the correct info is displayed. Why?

I'm using sessions to enable me to relate content from one table to another. So, my news table is giving me the key ID of an article (articleID), that articleID is then related to an images table where the filtering is applied and displayed on the detail page. It's here that the wrong content is being displayed until the page is refreshed.

What have I done wrong? Pages in question are attached. Detail page is the session initiating page.

Thanks.
