Could certain characters in the product title or short description create trouble during checkout?

Could certain characters in the product title or short description create trouble during checkout?

General Question - might sound crazy but I am asking it anyway:

A few times now I had trouble with certain products checking out in my store while all others checked out fine.

As soon as one of those products was in the cart - the checkout process failed. Once I removed the product out of the cart - it succeeded. While looking closely into those products I noticed that most of the once that failed during checkout had a special character such as & or ! either in the title or the short description.

After removing the character (or the short description all together) = the product checked out fine. This by the way happend with e-cart 5 as well as 6.

Is this a coincidence or is it possible that certain characters in the title or short description might create a problem during checkout?

It’s not that big of a deal since I always found a way around it but I like to know so I can avoid those. It also makes me uncertain while setting up a new product since I was not able to pinpoint the problem yet.

Thanks a lot and best regards,

Joerg
