What does this all mean to the man on the street?

What does this all mean to the man on the street?

Received your e-mail stating that "MySQL is deprecated" and will admit to my heart sinking as I have only just started moving everything from Classic ASP / MSSQL to PHP / MySQL - not least because of advice on here to do so. I've also not long purchased eCart 6, DataBridge and DataAssist so to now be facing another bill - it's all a bit concerning.

And what about code that has been put in place via Premier Support tickets - code that doesn't integrate with the WebAssist extensions? We have only just paid for some of that so I'm concerned that we're going to be asked to pay again in order to resolve that code when you were obviously aware, when providing that Premier Support, that this situation was on the horizon.

Are MySQL databases finished?
I'd appreciate some clarification on what this all means and the potential cost implications.

Thank you.
