SA2 with encrypted pass changes to non-required field so update-user deletes pass if user doesn't enter it.

Using the wizard, the password and confirm p/w field are set to required fields if non-encrypted - but if I change to any encryption, they become non-required, so on the generated update user page, if the user bypasses those fields (if they're not changing that info), the password in the database is deleted. Do I manually have to make those required fields after the fact, and if so, how?
