Manage Relational Data on Update Pages

I'm unable to get Relational Data to work on update pages. I'm using Check boxes, and I can check them and save, but when I go back to update the page, even though it has saved those selections in the database, it doesn't not have them checked in the update page.

I've tried using pages generated by DataAssist and also from-scratch pages using WebAssist update and repeater.
