My development computer is running on WinXP Pro. Therefore the most resent version of XAMPP that supports that operating system is:
XAMPP Windows 1.8.2 (DOWNLOADED BUT PROGRAM INSTALLED VS. 1.8.1
Installed:
XAMPP Windows 1.8.1
Apache 2.4.3 (download says 2.4.7 but installed config says 2.4.3)
MySQL 5.5.34 (phpinfo says 5.0.10)
PHP 5.4.7

The newer version of MySQL by default use the newer hashing alogorithm for connections passwords. I belive that this setting can be modified so that I can connect using the older method. That would be perfered if anyone knows how. Configuration has not been easy to setup and rather than reinstalling everything with an older version, it would be perferable to be more current when the site is migrate to a server running the enhansed connection method.
