currency switcher

Dear Webassist,
I am wanting to add a currency switcher to my ecart installation. I am storing the cart as a cookie and would like to be able to do something like when a user changes the currency on a form to loop through the carts contents and update the Price to a new price from a DB table, then repackage the cart cookie with the updated prices. I assume I can use the function UpdateCart(), but I am unclear as to how this function works.

The new currency prices are held in a DB table. Is is possible to run a loop and update all items prices to the new currency? And does UpdateCart() rebuild the cookie once it is updated? Or is there a better way to do this using the built in ecart function?

How would you suggest I do this.
