Resize Type 1, not upsizing images

I am using resize type ( resizeType ) 1, which i believe is the fit to box. The problem is that it doesnt resize the images bigger than they originally are.

I start with a 276 x 183 image... it resizes down to 100 x 66 to fit in a 100 x 75 box... perfect.

but when i tell it to resize to a 560 x 420 box it stays the original 276 x 183 size.

i noticed that resizeType 4 (fixed width, height) does resize up, but it puts a ugly color bar on the side etc.

so my question, is::::

***** If resizeType 1 is acting as it should, is there any way to specify a transparent bar as fill for type 4?***

I need images to be resized up and down, without any bars.

I am able to do custom mods if need be.
