Cannot get databridge generated code to insert into my existing pages without wiping all existing code out

Whenever I create pages using DataAssist in Databridge the code generated completely overwrites my existing site template code for that page. Is this right? I seem to remember it used to ask where the editable region was on a page and then it would insert the code there. At the moment the only way I can get a table of records to be included in a page is to create the page as a plug-in that has no styling at all and then add that plug-in to my existing page where it picks up the CSS. This doesn't seem quite right to me?
