DataAssist Not Inserting / Updating to Database

I've been having some ongoing issues with the DataAssist system not writing information to my database. Instead of trying to work out what is wrong with my existing website I thought I'd set up a temporary server and set up a basic system just as a working example. Then I could work my way through my other website to work out why it's not working.

However even this basic test site doesn't want to work. Everything I've set up is "out of the box" but for some reason it doesn't want to write using the

If I change ...

// WA DataAssist Insert
if (isset($_POST["Insert"]) || isset($_POST["Insert_x"])) // Trigger
{

... to ...

// WA DataAssist Insert
if ($_SERVER["REQUEST_METHOD"] == "POST") // Trigger
{

... on the insert page (and the appropriate variation on that for the update page) it works fine, but I don't want to do that. Seems to defeat the purpose of using DataAssist to create these pages if I need to tweak it like the above. I just want to work out why this isn't working like it should.

I'm attaching a file that has everything except the connection file. Includes the SQL file if you need it too.

I'd like to think I've done something wrong, but what I've done is a basic procedure with no tweaking of code.
