Customize Each Menu

Hi all. Is there a way to manually size each button width in the main level (the main button to trigger the pulldown aka the nav bar)? I have varying link text widths and need to modify each button to accommodate each link word length.

For example:
Contact Us | This is the second link | Third Link

ALSO

If I am using a graphic as my main nav button to trigger the pulldown, how should I handle the configuration within the CSS MENU WRITER tool? I dont want anything to display since the image will be the thing to display the links.

Thanks
