eCart PayPal Digital Downloads

I've been successfully selling digital downloads using eCart and Authorize.net as my payment gateway for some time. Now I'm interested in moving from Authorize.net to strictly PayPal for transaction processing. I've read a number of threads here but am not yet completely clear on what forms of PayPal processing will work in conjuction with eCart and selling digital downloadable items.

Ideally I would like to use the PayPal Standard form of processing which gives my customer the option of either using their PayPal account or paying directly with their credit card (payment through PayPal without the customer having to have a PayPal account).

My interpretation of what I've read in the threads is that this is not possible. That the only way of using PayPal with the relevant WA extensions for digital downloads is using the PayPal Express method which, I believe, limits that to only persons that have a PayPal account.

Is that correct?

Thanks,
David
