Update page Default Value from recordset

Hello,
I have a master detail page, on the master I have a link to my detail passing a variable thus all works fine so far..... On my detail update page I have the passed variable also filter a recordset thus allowing me to have previous data entered into the textfields etc.

Using dataassist I have set my form value to this

<input name="dingdong" type="text" id="dingdong" value="<?php echo $row_Recordset1['recdingdong']; ?>" />

The above means when I get to my update page it has the previous values in the textfields.

My question is when I have added the dataassist update SB view my page detail update page and change some record that had been previously created, the update never updates it only shows the old value. How can I show the old value when the page first loads and allow a person to change some of this data... click update button and wow the content been updated.

Is it not possible to have old data appear in textfields???? is the fat that I have old data shown in the textfield to begin with the issue here..

regards

K
