Convert DW template to Design Extender - making updates to template

Jason, let me see if I understand this correctly. If I create a template, for example, named insidepages.dwt.php, create pages based on this template, then do the following:

Webassist >> Framework Builder >> Themes >> Create Theme, it will mean that I will no longer be able to create new editable regions in my template that the theme was based on? Is this correct?

What I need to do at this point is delete the framework files from the Themes folder, and then I will be able to edit my template again? Then I would need to recreate the theme?

Is this correct? Hope I'm making sense!
