Record username on failed login attempt

Hi All

First time posting on the forums, and I've searched through but couldn't find anything that matched what I am after, so here goes.

I have used the Security Assist module to build a login page, the authentication is working great but I want to capture failed logins and record them in a database for security reporting purposes.

I have all the code in place so that on a failed login attempt a record is added to a database table but I can't seem to identify the variable that holds the userame the user entered.

It appears that once the WA_AuthenticateUser($WA_Auth_Parameter); function has run the username variable is destroyed.

Is there a way I can maintain the username the user entered if the login fails?
