Permalinks are getting changed when products updated

When updating certain products (most, but not all), CafeCommerce adds a '-2' to the permalink, requiring me to go back and edit it. For any product that this happens, it will happen every time I make an edit.

So, I'm forced to watch the permalink line as I save a product. If I see it get changed, then I have to hit the back button, edit the permalink, and re-save it. It's very time consuming. Furthermore, I'm very meticulous myself, but I will not be managing products going forward. This also has serious SEO implications.

This is a new store that was created Thursday Aug. 30

EDIT: This is specifically happening on products that were created without an option group, but have had one added since.
