Connecting PowerCMS to existing MySQL database

Hi there, I appreciate any assistance on this issue...

I'm adding a PowerCMS section to an existing static webpage, so I've gone through the procedure of converting the page to .php and establishing a localhost database using MAMP locally on my Mac.

Everything works fine locally, but it's installing online I feel I'm starting to come unstuck. The site I'm updating already has a database I have installed previously for an online store. The webhost is only allowing one database for this site, so I have to try and utilise the existing database for the PowerCMS setup on this particular page.

Don't know if this is where the issue lies (forgive me if I'm going off track)... the default MySQL local settings through MAMP is Host: localhost / User: root / Password: root. However I'm unable to create a database with those specs online as the phpMyAdmin only allows minimum 5 letter passwords.

Also the prefix automatically created for the online database name... [prefix]_[database name] is different to any database name prefix created locally.

Any help or at least any online guides in making the transition from a local setup to an online installation that you can forward onto me would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Andrew
