Works Locally Not On Server

I created my pages using DataAssist and tested them locally, then I exported my db as a .sql dump then imported it into my db called "mud09" on the server.

Okay so I imported the .sql via PHPAdmin and it created the table, etc. I then saved a copy of my Connection file locally called it server.php then changed within the resume_Insert.php the line that said <?php require_once("Connections/mud.php"); ?>
which was my original connection file to <?php require_once("Connections/server.php"); ?>

I then uploaded all files to the server and now I receive the following error when visiting resume_Insert.php:

Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/content/m/u/d/mudcheck/html/Connections/server.php on line 9

Fatal error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/content/m/u/d/mudcheck/html/Connections/server.php on line 9

Okay what did I overlook? Really need to get this application built:(
