"menu can't be actualized" error when installing/updating extensions

hi. when I try to install or update new/updated extensions, I get the error message that "Menus can't be actualized, extension will not be installed" (translated from German). I did the installation procedure exeactly as proposed on the WA-web (starting extension manager from Dreamwever, closed Dreamweaver prior to starting the installation; I also stopped the Anti virus software and quit all other applications). I'm working with DW CS4 on Windows XP SP3. Any hint which could help me solving this issue is very welcome. Thanks! Thomas
