Changing encryption type

I somehow chose the wrong encryption type when I built my registration pages and am wondering if it's simply a matter of replacing one with the other and changing the require once security assist page with the corresponding one.

In other words, is it safe to do a find/replace or am I better off biting the bullet and running the wizard again?

On second thought I went ahead and chose the safer route and recreated the pages using the wizard. I'd still be interested to know the answer for future reference though.
