Dynamic Add to cart buttons on my own catalogue page

When I place add to cart button on the catalogue page, which we created ourselves, and make it as a dynamic button, how can I have them to talk with database?
In other words, how can I specify the button to represent exact item in the database.
We are using the free eCommerce MySQL database provided by WebAssist, and created product insert/delete pages using dataassist, and the product sku and other columns are stored in the database. Catalogue page has the recordset, named "record set 1", which is linking to the database. I just can't get the add to car buttons specifying the each products, it always refer to the first line of the database.
