Data Assist and the Pipe | Vertical Line

Ok i have avoided using it in design before, but now i really need to use it.

I am starting to use it in seo and other places where it needs to be used hundreds of times in text in multiple places in the database.. What is the hack or fix so that it shows up as a pipe in mysql tables. It cant show or be saved as html.

What can i do to fix this problem? It looks like dreamweaver insert update behaviors work with it, but web assist doesnt. I understand what its being used for, but i need a way around it so i can still use the best extensions for dreamweaver .. webassist.

open to ideas, concepts and theories..
