Hi Rob.
I have never used godaddy, but as far as your language / database is concerned, I would recomment php and mysql.
Both php and mysql have lots of users and technical support and are free.
I would say they go together like bacon & eggs.
asp is becoming a bit long in the tooth, (You may remember that Webassist moved from asp to php recently and new Webassist extensions will not support asp, only php).
As far as databases go, access is nice and graphical and easy to use, so may be tempting, but I recommend biting the bullet and going for mySQL. It may take a bit more work initially, but is worth it in the long run.
MSSQL is also an excellent database management tool, but it can be expensive, and there is little it can do that mySQL cannot.
I would also recommend buying a good book about database design.
