space between menu items

how do i change the space between the menu items so that they are
equidistant from each other?
here is a link to the menu i am working with -

further, how to control the total width of the navigation menu? perhaps
this would explain the problem i am seeing. not sure though.

right now i believe the menu items are aligned in the center, as described in a previous q&a.

never mind - i think i have fixed the issue.
