Supplied argument not valid MySQL link

Well, after complete delete and reinstall it finally worked. Got all the way thru, I think. It made my confirm page but no failure or success page. Don't know if I need those because I selected No payment gateway. However when I get to the confirm page it obviously is not connecting to the DB to store the order. Msg is: Warning: mysql_select_db();: supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/hemgen1/public_html/confirm.php on line 219 (and 253). Checked the DB and the tables for orders were created. Help.
