A very interesting and well-fed exchange between specialists that feel very concerned about PS's future, that hopefully should lead to a sublime PS5 edition in the next 12-18 months ! Let's hope that the WA board has a close eye on these mindful experts in "European constraints" and that the development team shall be instructed to go this way.
I do also expect a more "internationally customizable" version of PS soon.
But it shall become quite of a headache for the "poor" US developers at WA when they will be confronted with all our nice (and sometimes abusive) European rules and national specifics as both of you already mentioned.
I think we, from the OLD EUROPE (as a certain Rumsfeld declared one day !), should contribute actively to help the WA team to achieve an even better as expected PS5 for a much broader customer and developer community.
As we all know, English hasn't yet established as THE language in Europe, also the English-speaking community broadens day by day. But it shall need many years to achieve that goal. In the meanwhile, I think, the next PS5 edition should also include the following languages to be chosen from at installation time (French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese). Other translation may follow in PS6 (Russian, Chinese, Hindi,...).
To achieve that, WA shall insert an additional table in the DB using generic field labels and messaging items that are bound to the corresponding translated fields. At setup of PS5 you simply choose the language type and the product is localized (language, VAT, shipping, etc.).
I started doing this with PS3 (FR /DE) and now I go on with PS4. Of course, it's time consuming but it must be done so that WA can achieve what we expect them to reach !
We are in a global market, so each of us should bring its little contribution in order to get a more customizable PS5 (and of course PS6).
Any other good ideas are welcome !
