eCart 5, dynamic shipping and static inventory?

Redid but checkout failure

Hi Jason,
I redid the entire cart from scratch, and the process seems to be functioning until checkout when I get a failure. I cannot find a dynamic server error field to add to display on the checkout_failure.php page. It has ecart variables and Session variables, but no Error Message variables.

Now, this is a FirstData sandbox connection (a live but non-processing connection), so that may be the problem, or the fact that i entered a bogus credit card number, but I can't tell...

I have a few questions:
1. How can I add server error messages to this page?
2. Once this thing goes live with a real connection to First Data, how can I modify the storename and login info without re-running a checkout wizard and having to recreate all these pages?
3. Where can I find the code for the Database connection used? I have 2, one for customers to see items, but not modify, and a master connection allowing modifications and writing. I am wondering if I used the customer connection and it is preventing the transaction from taking place...?
Thanks for the help so far.
