eCart 5 RBS Worldpay Gateway

I spoke to RBS Worldpay this morning as I had enquiry about integrating their gateway on an existing eCart Site and they informed me that they did not offer a developer account and to test you have to sign up for a merchant account with all the rigmarole and costs that go along with it ?

My question is how did you test your implementation of this gateway as you have said before that you do not have a UK bank account or I assume uk merchant facilities ?

I do not want to get bitten on the bum with a quote to do this as in my experience as good as your products are (and they are) there are always little gotcha's when dealing with gateways and not being able to work in a test environment first makes me nervous !
