Extending galleries to Albums

Thread began 12/01/2009 7:08 pm by andy.schofield283961 | Last modified 12/07/2009 1:34 pm by andy.schofield283961 | 1004 views | 3 replies

Extending galleries to Albums

Although a great tool, there doesnt appear to be any instructions on how this could be extended by the user so that galleries could be grouped together under different headings to create virtual albums for displaying on a website.

I have updated the gallery to support multiple users, but am looking for a simple way to extend this to allow groupings of galleries.

For example, from a database POV I can list all galleries by a certain user and expand on this to include other distinct labels to allow whatever grouping I need.

My question is 'is there an easy way to then pass these results to a standard page which could show all of the 1st images in each gallery found so that users can navigate into different depths of galleries?'

User selects which users photos they wish to view
Site shows all photo albums for requested user (e.g. Holiday Photos, Family Photos, etc)
User selects 'Holiday Photos'
Site shows all destinations results, i.e. USA, Canada, UK, etc
User selects UK
Gallery for UK is shown as standard.

My issue isnt with the workflow or the navigation its how I create a new gallery of each 1st image to at each stage to help navigate the users.

Hope that makes some kind of sense.
