Is there a way to cross check a member number for validation?

I have an entry field for Red Star Life Members to enter their life member numbers. Is there a way to cross check the numbers from a valid list of names. Currently, some members who are not actual Red Star Life Members are just entering their regular life member numbers and still getting the 5% discount.
