I'd have to test it in context. I can't tell if the issue is with the page or the email server. Let's work on one page at a time... please provide a url to reproduce the issue and steps to reproduce and I'll help you look into it.

1. Create Account
2. Should receive email to activate account check email click link provided.
3. After account is active you can Login
If Login fails A or B should send email to access account. A & B can be found on login page.
A. Verify Account
B. Forgot Password
To update account goto PANEL/MEMBER then select UPDATE. Here is were email is sent to confirm changes.
