Help in modifying searchresults page

Modifying searchresults page URL

I would like to modify the search results page generated by DataAssist so that it takes a URL .php?=ItemCatID=x input and displays the results for a specific category. I've tried experimenting with adding it in the URL but get no response. I have inserted a vertical menu that, dynamically, displays the Categories ( as well as Items as a submenu ). I want to link the menu categories to a copy of the search results page; let's call the page category_products.php .

RESOLUTION: I discovered that the search page generated by DataAssist adds an "s_" to the beginning of the URL parameter ItemCatID. Once I added it in it seems to work now. So ... nevermind :)
