insert multiple records then update

hi there,

what I am trying to do but cannot understand how it can be done.

have a page where they can do multiple inserts of questions from the database. which is fine however say they only answer 5 out of the 10 questions from the recordset.

on the next page they go back and want to update the questions but still have 5 to insert. how can I show the remaining 5 to be inserted so they do not insert all 10? I am guessing the questions table needs to join the answers table and show if no answer but if it has never been inserted then how can I not show it?

many thnaks
