OK. I have answered my own question (the answer's "yes, eCart integration with PayPal Webpayments Pro UK will now only work on a PHP platform unless you edit the code yourself") and have got my cart to work using the information that tommy355280 provided (thanks very much). I would be happy to post the sections that need changing if anyone's interested.
